Blood tests in Poland vs the UK: prices compared (2026)

In the UK, Medichecks and One Day Tests add £35 for a blood draw in a clinic, so a single test including the draw starts at £74 (PLN 388.49) in the price lists we checked. At BadamySie.pl the five compared tests cost PLN 24.60–45.00 with the blood draw included; the UK totals are 8.6 to 32.7 times as much.

What the price comparison includes

Prices were recorded on 24 October 2026 for a standalone test with a clinic blood draw per visit. The tests covered are vitamin B12, cortisol, insulin, CRP and beta-HCG. UK totals use the clinic collection option, not the test-only price. Sterling totals are converted using the NBP average GBP/PLN rate of 5.2498 from 23 October 2026.

BadamySie.pl prices are non-promotional and include blood collection. The Polish collection-point price lists come from four nationwide networks in Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Szczecin and Katowice, and exclude collection charges.

Reading the totals

For cortisol, BadamySie.pl lists PLN 41.40 including collection, while Medichecks totals £80.00, equivalent to PLN 419.98. The Polish collection-point price lists give PLN 48.00–88.00 for cortisol before collection. Those Polish list prices therefore cannot be read as complete visit totals.

Across the listed offers, converted UK totals are 8.6–32.7 times the corresponding BadamySie.pl prices, subject to the differences in assays below.

Limitations of this comparison

  • Medichecks and Blood Tests London list active vitamin B12 (holotranscobalamin), whereas One Day Tests lists total B12; these are different assays.
  • Medichecks does not list a standalone insulin test; its Insulin Resistance package costs £79 and is not a direct substitute for an individual-test price.
  • Medichecks and One Day Tests add £35 for collection in a clinic, while Blood Tests London includes collection in its listed price.

Test names and clinical interpretation

Medichecks’ CRP listing is hs-CRP. Standard CRP and hs-CRP measure the same protein, but hs-CRP detects very low concentrations and is used in cardiovascular risk assessment. Standard CRP is used when investigating infection or inflammation; see the guide to CRP and ESR.

A serum vitamin B12 result near the lower end of the reference range can still be associated with deficiency at cell level. For borderline results, a doctor may consider active B12 or methylmalonic acid testing.

An insulin result alone should not be treated as a diagnosis of insulin resistance. Insulin testing does not replace fasting glucose, an oral glucose tolerance test or HbA1c when investigating glucose regulation. Discuss the choice of tests and interpretation with a doctor rather than choosing solely by price.

Preparing for the blood draw

For insulin and vitamin B12 testing, the preparation guidance recommends an 8–12-hour fast. Cortisol should be sampled between 7:00 and 9:00, after 15 minutes of rest. Try to have a normal night’s sleep: sleep loss and stress can raise cortisol.

Avoid strenuous exercise on the day before sampling, as it can raise CRP. CRP alone does not require fasting, although other tests taken at the same visit may do so. Do not stop prescribed medicines without consulting a doctor; the blood-test preparation guide covers medicines and supplements.

How buying at BadamySie.pl works

After payment, the collection point receives purchase information automatically and the buyer receives confirmation by email. Testing can usually take place immediately, even within minutes of payment. Some participating collection points arrange a specific appointment time instead, with a telephone call no later than the next working day. You can go for the test straight after payment, but the fasting and timing requirements for your test still apply.

The purchase code is valid only at the participating collection points selected in the basket, not at other laboratory networks. A company invoice can be requested by selecting the relevant option at checkout. The Polish-speaking helpline, 22 1001 266, operates Mon–Fri 8–15 and helps with selecting a test or package.

Results and medical follow-up

The laboratory issues results in Polish. At the collection point, the patient receives a code to access the result online in the laboratory’s system, using the code and their date of birth.

A raised CRP does not identify the cause or location of inflammation on its own. Take the report to a doctor for interpretation, particularly if a result is outside the laboratory’s reference range. Seek urgent medical assessment for high fever, breathlessness, severe pain or signs of dehydration rather than waiting to compare prices.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral, and how long can I use the purchase?

Tests bought through BadamySie.pl do not require a referral. The purchase is valid for 6 months from the purchase date.

Can I buy a test for someone else?

You can buy a test for another person. The payer's details and the patient's details are entered separately.

Does buying online change when results are available?

Results are available at the same time as when buying at the collection point. BadamySie.pl does not receive the laboratory result.

Can I drink coffee before a fasting blood test?

Coffee is not permitted during the fasting period, even without sugar. Plain water is allowed.

Does beta-HCG testing depend on the day of the menstrual cycle?

Beta-HCG can be measured on any day of the menstrual cycle. When a period is late, a quantitative blood beta-HCG test is more sensitive than a urine pregnancy test.
